Grant Information

Homeowners who convert to selected renewable energy systems can now claim grants for their installation, thanks to a new scheme announced recently by Minister for Energy Noel Dempsey. The grants will pay out €1,000 to €6,500, depending on the technology used, and householders who avail of them can also look forward to greatly reduced fuel bills in the long term.

The Greener Homes Scheme is now available and provides assistance to homeowners who intend to purchase a new renewable energy heating system for either new or existing homes. The scheme is administered by Sustainable Energy Ireland and aims to increase the use of sustainable energy technologies within Irish homes over the next 5 years.

Should you require assistance of any kind in making this application, WOW Alternative Energy Solutions Ltd. would be pleased to assist.

On the other hand, you may wish to apply directly, in which case, you will find detailed below the application and evaluation procedures.

It may be possible to apply for a second grant where the combination of technologies makes sense in terms of reduced overall C02 intensity, capital costs, value for money and operating service.

Two grants are available for the following combination of technologies:
• Solar Space and Solar Hot Water Heating (to a maximum collector area of 12 m2)
• Wood Chip or Pellet Stove with Integral Boiler and Solar Space Heating (to a maximum collector area of 12 m2)
• Wood Chip or Pellet Stove for room heating and Solar Hot Water Heating (to a maximum collector area of 6m2)
• Heat Pump and Solar Hot Water (to a maximum collector area of 6m2)
• Wood Chip or Pellet Boiler and Solar Hot Water (to a maximum collector area of 6m2)

These combinations will be eligible for two grants; however applicants should note that the use of such combinations requires careful engineering and integration of control systems to ensure that environmental benefits are achieved.

Where an applicant wishes to get grant support for such permitted combinations a separate application must be made for each product.
